Chris Boemo

Chris Boemo graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1982 and worked in a greyhound-only practice for 5.5 years establishing his credentials in greyhound medicine and surgery before establishing Keysborough Veterinary Practice in 1988, a busy 4-vet small animal and greyhound practice in south-eastern Melbourne.
He has lectured to students, veterinarians and greyhound industry participants throughout his professional career on many aspects of greyhound medicine and surgery, and has authored numerous papers and journal contributions on many aspects of greyhound surgery including treatment of metacarpal, carpal and accessory carpal bone fractures, distal tibial and tarsal bone fractures in their various presentations, and rupture of the transverse humeral ligament, as well as numerous clinical and medical case presentations. He has contributed chapters to Current Techniques in Small Animal Surgery (ed Bojrab), Canine Sports Medicine and Surgery (eds Bloomberg, Dee & Taylor), and is one author in a soon to be published veterinary anatomy textbook.
He has been a member of the Australian Veterinary Association A.V.A.) since 1981, was the AGVA’s representative on A.V.A. Policy Council for 21 years and was awarded the Association’s Meritorious Service Award in 2002. He has represented the Association on greyhound matters to government on numerous occasions and is presently is a member of the Animal Welfare Committee of Greyhound Racing Victoria.
